Resacon and The Market, Las Vegas

I attended my first RESAcon in Las Vegas last week and it was a phenomenal experience. There were professional home stagers from every part of North America. I thought that I would meet some of my Seattle stager peers, but we were all so immersed in the newest, cutting edge trends and education to help us take our staging businesses to new levels.

One of the classes I took had to do with staging homes to sell from a real estate broker's perspective. The speaker provided data showing that the large majority of brokers believe and understand that staging a home has at least some if not significant impact on selling a home faster and for more money. However, the same data source showed that about 20% of them actually implement staging a home or even educating their agents in the importance of doing so.

So, I have my work cut out for me. Before I attended the Real Estate Staging Association's educational event, I thought that I would just lean into those who value what I have to offer. Maybe I would just wait for the others to catch up. But, now I'm starting to realize that I may need to get over my issues when it comes to speaking in front of a group. Maybe I need to put together a presentation that I already started and lay it out for these agents.

Real Estate agents that I have spoken to in the Skagit, Island, San Juan and Whatcom counties have all shown a certain level of shrugging when it comes to the idea of staging. And, I know that in Bellingham, specifically, I had an agent get angry with me and cut off contact entirely because I wasn't charging the same as a gal from his client's social circles. I'd like to keep my business narrowed down to the Anacortes, Mt. Vernon, Burlington, Friday Harbor, Whidbey, Freeland areas but to tell you the truth, 100% of my serious inquiries have come from Seattle.

This means that I will need to do a bit of educating on the matter in my local area, beginning with Anacortes. Wish me luck! And remember, if you are new to the idea of staging your listing to sell, you can call me and I'll answer every question you have. If I an unsure of the answers, then I will find the answer for you. Happy selling!
