My First Home Staging Job... Yes, Really!

Home Staging job in Friday Harbor, WA, one of the most beautiful places in the Pacific Northwest. Luxury home on the water, almost ready to sell!

As a brand new home stager, not quite ready to launch my business, you can imagine my utter shock, excitement, and FEAR when I received my first call. I didn’t advertise outwardly. I still haven’t shared my facebook business page. I STILL don’t have portfolio pics!

A real estate agent in Friday Harbor, WA said that there was a home that was in need of some staging. I thought it may be some sort of joke so I asked, “How on earth did you find me?” She replied, “I just googled ‘Home Staging’ in Friday Harbor and you came right up.” I forgot that I made a decision to start designing and staging homes. I was so proud of myself for the mere fact that I ranked in the top three on Google for the perfect home staging search phrase! I had to snap myself back to reality. I am not designing websites anymore to sell a product. I am designing home interiors to sell a home!

Instead of showing the agent how I can be as cool as a cucumber, I immediately turned on my “truth faucet” and told her that I am brand new. I told her that I know I can stage a home as well as anyone out there. I’ve been doing it all my life in one way or another whether I had great furnishings to work with or not. The rest of the conversation is a blur, but two days later I was on a ferry with my husband, tape measures, grid paper, and our three chihuahuas in tow.

Home Design and staging for real estate listing

Imagine having your coffee out on the patio engulfed in such exquisite beauty.

Real Estate home staging dream!

I’ve worked very hard these past couple weeks gathering custom furniture inventory, doubting my every decision, overanalyzing everything, determined to get this project right. I have told very few people about it, as I don’t think I can bear any outside nay-sayers. I am so grateful for my husband. He sees the potential. He sees what I love about this career opportunity. Best of all, he sees me… frazzled, imperfect, but more determined than I’ve ever been.

I will be posting this listing and further details when it is ready. But for now, I’ll let you have a tiny sneak peak of this spectacular view.

Please visit my website and contact me if you want to learn more about what staging can do for your listing. You can also find me on instagram. I will be glad to share what I know and I look forward to exploring how we can help to sell your home the quickest and for the highest possible price.
